Four opportunities are available working with Fleetwood Voices – for drama, dance, music and creative writing/poetry practitioners.
Fleetwood Voice is a large scale community arts project to explore the heritage and identity of Fleetwood and it’s people from 1860 to the present day as part of Fleetwood’s 10 Year Vision for ‘Unlocking People and Place’. The heritage of the town including the melody and intonations of the Fleetwood voice will be used as a vehicle for unlocking the identity of the region resulting in a large multimedia composition that will ‘give a voice’ to the people and a wealth of film based community histories that will form a legacy for future generations to explore. Community and educational workshops will use the arts to stimulate and challenge a wide range of groups including school children, the fishing community and the disaffected communities on Flakefleet and Westview estates to think about the town, it’s heritage, identity and sense of place.
The project is looking for experienced practitioners who have a passion for devising creative and collaborative projects. Practitioners will be based in a Fleetwood school and will work with a range of school children across a range of year groups. As part of the project practitioners will each support the development of two arts ambassadors who will work alongside to achieve the project aims.
