LeftCoast has a small team of friendly and experienced arts professionals who are all committed to using the arts as a route to develop peoples identity, creativity and learning. Essentially, we like and value people and view our participant groups as resourceful agents who can be mobilised to tackle/prevent social problems and inequality in our local communities.
To help us achieve our goals as an organisation, we work with an array of artistic, commercial, educational and public sector partners who have the needs of Blackpool and Wyre at the centre of what they do too.
LeftCoast is a programme of arts, culture and creative activity happening across Blackpool and Wyre on the Fylde Coast. We aim to provide opportunities to experience high quality arts and culture that is accessible to all.
We’re all about creating amazing art on your doorstep. From jaw-dropping spectacle to intimate experiences in your neighbourhood, we want to make art happen. In the process we hope to inspire and support creatives who live, work and study here.
We want you to be part of the art transformation happening in your area. You could help shape your neighbourhood through our community activities, get support to develop your skills as part of LeftCoast STUDIO, create new projects with our help as part of our Future Popular programme or become a volunteer in our LeftCoast MAKER programme.
We can also let you know about the wealth of arts and cultural activity taking place across the Fylde Coast, from our nationally recognised arts organisations The Grundy Art Gallery and The Grand Theatre to independent festivals, artist studios and pop up galleries.
Don’t forget to join us and subscribe to our monthly newsletter to find out all the latest information about what we’ve got in store.
LeftCoast has been brought together by a local partnership of organisations including Blackpool Coastal Housing, Blackpool Council, Wyre Council, Blackpool Grand Theatre and Merlin Entertainments. We’re funded by Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places Programme.

LeftCoast is pleased to have the support of our consortium partners and funders; Arts Council England, Blackpool Coastal Housing, Blackpool Council, Wyre Council, Merlin Entertainments, Grand Theatre Blackpool, Better Start and Regenda.
We have worked with a number of delivery partners including the Without Walls Touring Network, XTRAX, Sea Change Arts, London International Festival of Theatre, Fleetwood Festival of Transport, Activate productions, Blackpool Fylde College and UCLAN.
Additionally, we have worked collaboratively with many local organisations and individual artists to deliver creative community engagement activities and high-quality development opportunities across Blackpool and Wyre.
“The rules change by the coast. You can experiment and be free to express yourself. The coast does not hem you in – it connects you to the rest of the world. There is a creative license here you just don’t get in other places. Blackpool and Wyre are not the same as anywhere else.”
Michael Trainor, LeftCoast Artistic Director
