We have lots of opportunities for stage crafts available this summer in Blackpool. Come and join internationally acclaimed dreamthinkspeak who are creating an ambitious and intriguing performance work, ABSENT, in a secret location in Blackpool during August and September. The project is commissioned by Blackpool Grand Theatre and LeftCoast.

There are several freelance opportunities available, from production carpenters to sound and lighting technicians and from stage managers to scenic artists.

Roles available –

Production Carpenters
5th JULY – 18th AUG
(probable 6 day week)
£150 per day (negotiable upward according to exp)

Experience of set-building; able to work to a clean and precise finish; own tools; ability to build from drawings.

LX Technician
JULY: up to 6 days, flexible
AUG: 11th – 20th
£115 per day plus overtime (mainly AUG 11th – AUG 19)

Able to work independently + closely with artistic director on lighting plan and levels.

Sound Technician
JULY: up to 4 days, flexible
AUG: 9th – 20th
£115 per day plus overtime
(mainly AUG 9th – AUG 19)

Able to work independently + closely with artistic director on layout of speakers and sound levels; experience of Q-lab.

Video Technician
JULY: up to 8 days, flexible
AUG: 9th – 20th
£150 per day plus overtime
(mainly AUG 9th – AUG 19)

Able to work independently and problem-solve; logistical skills to plan and deliver complex, multiple video streams;

Company Stage Manager
11TH JULY – 25th AUG
12th SEPT – 16th SEPT
25th SEPT – 4th OCT
£550 per week basic plus overtime (mainly between AUG 9th – SEPT 25th)

Multi-tasking role, running from ASM, DSM to CSM duties;
Excellent org & comms skills; calm; able to direct crew in turnarounds; scenic skills desirable; basic technical show ops
Stage Manager
11TH JULY – 25th AUG
12th SEPT – 16th SEPT
25th SEPT – 4th OCT
£450 per week basic plus overtime (mainly between AUG 9th – SEPT 25th)

Multi-tasking role; excellent org & comms skills; propping; set-dressing; show-running; basic technical show operation; able to handle large number of performers; calm.
Show Technician
1st AUG – 25th AUG
12th SEPT – 16th SEPT
25th SEPT – 4th OCT
£450 per week basic plus overtime (mainly between AUG 9th – SEPT 25th)

Resourceful all-rounder with working knowledge of LX, sound, visual operation and trouble-shooting; able to work independently and calmly.

Scenic Artist
JULY 12th – AUG 19th
£650 per week

Experience and skill at creating new / clean or old / degraded scenic finishes; able to effectively manage a team of scenic painters and volunteers; good organizational skills.
Scenic Painters x4
JULY 11th – AUG 19th
£500 per week

Solid painting skills to clean and precise finish; some set dressing required.

Crew 1 4 – 8 required on various dates
JUNE: 7th
JULY: up 6 days (dates TBC)
AUG: 8th – 19th (6 – 12 days TBC)
SEPT: 12th, 16th, 25th
SEPT 29th – OCT 4th (2 – 6 days)

£10 per hour

Strong, reliable, hard-working crew for lifting and carrying scenery and props; rigging & de-rigging of scenery.
Crew 2 Set dressing crew 4 – 8 required on various dates
AUG 16th, 18th, 25th
SEPT: 12th, 16th, 25th, 29th

£10 per hour

Scenic dressing and prop rigging / de-rigging; precise and able to work to time constraints; work under SM team
Costume Designer
Completely flexible

£2500
Very coordinative role; excellent comms + logistical skills for planning multiple costuming scenarios, including for up to 150 volunteers; confident to coordinated teams of costume + hair and make-up assistants.
